“Memory”

Installation (Arduino, laser, servo motors, glow in the dark paint, plastic sheet), 2010

We do remember things. In sort of impulse we recreate an image that slowly evaporates. Some memories are crisp others distant and blurry.
Here I tried to imitate this impulse of distant, blurry childhood memory, that happened to be captured in a photograph, by projecting it in a fading medium.
The photograph is of me with my parents on barricades of 1991 in Riga, the days Soviet Union collapsed – an oldest photograph event of which I remember.
